BEES LOSE THEIR BUZZ

Barking made it back to back victories and made it four league and cup unbeaten home wins and with a resounding victory over Basildon United.

Basildon looked dangerous early on but it was Barking who took the lead after 5 minutes as Kemo Darboe headed home a pinpoint cross from Jack Edwards. Ross Elsom made it two after 16 minutes as he lashed the ball home from close range after Jordan Peart’s shot was saved by former Blue Emmanuel Olajide. Ross Elsom had his second and Barking’s third as some good interplay saw Darboe dink the ball over the top for Elsom to lift over the Basildon goalkeeper Olajide and into the net for a sublime finish. With half time approaching Barking got a deserved fourth as Edwards provided for Darelle Russell who slotted the ball home while through on goal.

Basildon no doubt buoyed by some strong words from their management team came out fighting and it took them just eight minutes to get a goal as a right wing attack saw the ball bobble across goal for Cobblah to scramble home. Basildon kept pushing but apart from Tim Brown's rushed clearance which cannoned off Callum Taylor and flew wide, failed to create chances of note. Barking reestablished their four-goal cushion on 84 as Abs Seymour tapped the ball home following some interplay with sub Chinedu Osadebe. Salt was rubbed into the wounds for Basildon as Taylor was given his marching orders for kicking the ball at Peart in the last minute of normal time. Barking confortably saw out added time to make a strong start to 2019.

Next up for the Blues is a trip across London on Tuesday to meet Dulwich Hamlet at Champion Hil in a London Senior Cup quarter final kick off 7:45pm.
