At a windy Mayesbrook Park Barking slipped out of the FA Trophy to Beaconsfield Town with a goal in each half for the visitors. With J.J. Da Cruz cup tied and Brian Okwera unavailable, a defensive reshuffle saw Ricky Tarbard moving to centre half and Timi Abiola switching to right back.
The first half saw a lot of huff and puff from both sides with home keeper Ollie Bowles producing two excellent stops to preserve his clean sheet. However, on the stroke of half time the game swung away from the home team when Toib Adeyemi was shown a straight red card for a “professional foul”. The resulting free kick was driven home by Wes Daly to put Beaconsfield a goal to the good at the interval.
At half time the defensive pack was shuffled again and Abs Seymour moved to centre half and Theo Ola was brought on in place of Albert Levett. Five minutes into the second half a clear foul on Ola was ignored by the referee and to rub salt into the wound the ball was then worked to Jordan Ajanleoko who expertly put the visitors two up. Despite sending on two new strikers - including debutant Lheueux Menga - the home side could not force a goal and at the final whistle Beaconsfield took their place in the next round.
We are now back in league action on Tuesday when we entertain AFC Sudbury kick off 7:45pm
