Felixstowe & Walton Utd 4

Barking were punished for defensive frailties as Felixstowe took advantage in a 4-2 victory.

Daniel Cheema saw an early effort well saved but Felixstowe took the lead after 8 minutes as the hosts failed to clear a corner and Josh Kerridge nodded home. It was 2-0 minutes later as Jack Ainsley slotted home despite vociferous appeals lead by captain Ben O'Brien for an offside decision that wasn't firthcoming. Barking forced good saves from visiting keeper and man of the match Tim Spurling but found themselves three goals down in half an hour as Miles Powell nodded home at the far post. Barking looked dangerous going forward and clawed a goal back as Daniel Cheema’s curling effort found the net for his third goal in as many league games.

Blues defender Ricky Tarbard cleared off the line early in the second half but the rest was all Barking but Felixstowe stood firm thanks to resolute defending and good goalkeeping until the 87th minute as Joe Bruce converted a penalty after a foul on Ola Ogunwamide.

The game was set for a grandstand finish but two minutes later Joseph Francis slotted home after some neat football to secure all three points and kill off any thoughts teh home side had of a comback.

The Blues hit the road next Saturday as they travel to Coggleshall Town where we recently narrowly lost out in the Essex Senior Cup.
