BARKING PAY THE PENALTY
table with a single goal win coming from a penalty early in the second half.
With Junior Dadson ill his place was taken by Giovanni Palmer with Sam Owusu replacing Max Bradford as the only two changes from Tuesday night’s win over Waltham Abbey.
Prior to kick off a tankard was presented to Ricky Tarbard by Barking Chairman Rob O’Brien marking his 200th game on Tuesday at Waltham Abbey.
The game started at 100 mph with few real chances: the first fell to Barking on nine minutes when Sherri Artmeladze challenges Hanwell keeper Hugo Sobte but and the ball bounces to Johnny Ashman who fires wide A minute later Artmeladze’s powerful run forward ends in a shot that is wide. From the quarter hour mark Hanwell begin to exert pressure but Barking keeper Josh Roach is mainly untroubled and the only real chance for either side is a disputed free kick given for hand ball against Joe Bruce which ends up over the bar.
The second half starts disastrously when Bruce is penalised for a foul and Ogo Obi beats Roach for what transpired to be the winner.
Barking rallied and Abs Seymour from an Ashman corner cannot make the right connection and the shot is saved. Roach makes a good low save on 59 to keep it at one nil. After a period of niggles and no real clear-cut chances on 80 scorer Obi is through but being wide of the goal and running out of room fires over. Two minutes later a Ricky Tarbard cross is flicked by Dee Dumaka and sub Michael Dixon is denied by Sobte palming the ball over. Barking mount, a late rally and in added time force several corners, even keeper Roach joins in but cannot force an equaliser.
Next Saturday we hit the road with another tough game away to Uxbridge FC with a 3pm kick off.
