Barking 1
Haringey Borough 2

Barking beaten by Haringey

Barking fought valiantly but couldn’t keep up with a Haringey Borough side that will be near the top of the table come the end of the season. Barking were able to keep the first half goalless but goals in the second half for Jorge Dtassi-Sambu and Ralston Gabriel - Albert Levett managed to grab a late goal for the Blues but it wasn’t enough.

The first half started quiet with debutant Albert Levett seeing his swerving volley going wide. Haringey had their first good chance after 16 minutes from a low left wing found a striker free in the box but the Haringey attacked skied the ball from close range. Both sides seemed equal to each other and it was Barking who had the next after 33 minutes as Shomari Barnwell saw his effort saved and the rebound blocked before the ball fell to Dan Gilchrist who cleared the bar. 5 minutes later and Barking were nearly punished as Theo Ola lost the ball near the Barking box but to everyone’s relief the shot fell wide of goal. As the first half entered its final five minutes Barking were in ascendency with Kiernan Hughes-Mason  going close twice – firstly latching on to Ollie Bowles long drop kick but seeing his shot go close to the goalkeeper before latching onto Barnwell’s flick on but saw his shot just whistle over the bar

Barking continued to put pressure on in the second half as Dan Gilchrist saw his shot go wide but Haringey began to turn the screw and saw a dangerous free kick collected by Bowles in the 57th minute but they took the lead from another free kick moments later – a short free kick was cut back into the box where a shot was blocked on the line by Steve Willis but Jorge Dtassi-Sambu reacted first to bundle home. The lead was doubled five minutes later as pressure forced a wayward backpass from Steve Willis – Bowles attempted to keep the ball in to prevent a corner but the ball to Ralston Gabriel who had an easy tap-in. Haringey managed to stifle Barking as they attempted to push forward but they were in for a nervy stoppage time as a defender managed to block a cross by Ricky Tarbard but the ball fell to Albert Levett who slid the ball home.

Barking were not able to force an equaliser but will not be too disappointed against a team that are expected to be challenging for the title come to the end of the season.
