Barking 2
Maldon & Tiptree 1

Barking came from behind to claim the points at a chilly Mayesbrook Park against Maldon & Tiptree.

The visitors started brightly but the home side hit back through Kiernan Hughes-Mason and Billy Jones – Maldon went ahead on 22 through their hotshot Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe from the penalty spot following a Hussain Jaffa foul. Despite Barking having a couple of penalty shouts of their own and a Jones goal disallowed for offside, Maldon led at the interval.

After the break Barking were the stronger side and their continuous pressure paid off on 70 minutes when Abs Seymour’s corner was met at the near post by the head of Billy Jones who had looked Barking's most potent attacker on the day for the equaliser. Twelve minutes from time following a foul on Alan Taylor it was Abs Seymour again with a cleverly taken quick free kick which played in Kiernan Hughes-Mason on goal and after some nifty footwork he scored the winner.

Barking continued to dominate: Hussain Jaffa’s looping shot struck the bar and near full time a Martin Tuohy shot smacked the outside of post and bounced to safety.

Maldon’s misery was completed by a late red card for Ryan Gondoh.
