Barking 1

Maldon & Tiptree 2

Barking went down 2-1 to Maldon & Tiptree who continue their impressive start to the season.

Maldon got off to the best start imaginable as Shane Cojocarel nodded the ball home from close range after five minutes. Barking grew into the game and had some impressive half chances but had stopper Emmanuel Olajide to thank as he made two saves from point blank range to deny Maldon and keep the score at 1-0 at half time.

There was nothing Olajide could do after 58 minutes as a long ball was nodded down to George Sykes who powered the ball home to double the lead. The Blues had a way back into the match with 20 mins remaining as Jack McQueen scored his first senior goal nodding home from a corner seconds after coming as a substitute. The Blues pushed forward boosted by the goal but apart from a late Brendan Ocran chance from close range failed to test the Maldon keeper.
