Barking 0

Potters Bar Town 3

Today's promotion shoot out at Mayesbrook Park went the way of Potters Bar Town as cthey linched promotion and a place in the Bostik Premier division by beating Barking 3-0, at the expense of Bowers & Pitsea: whose 4-1 win over Brentwood Town was in vain.

The first twenty minutes were fairly even but after 25 James Budden rose highest from a corner to bury a header past Chris Clark and give the visitors the lead. Before and after the goal Clark denied the Scholars with a series of spectacular saves. However, there was nothing he could do when after 51 Eoin Casey made it two from close range after another well delivered corner and Potters Bar were in the driving seat. Eoin Casey added his second and the visitors third on 77 and it signaled to the large contingent of Scholars supporters who traveled the 26 miles to follow their team that they should begin the celebrations.

Barking for their part never gave up and despite their best efforts could not conjure a goal, with Budden superbly marshalling the defence and ensured nothing was given away.

So Potters Bar move onto pastures new and Barking will take great comfort on a tenth place finish in their season back at step 4 in over a decade.
