Barking managed their first double back in the Isthmian league as they secured another 1-0 victory over Ware. It was another set piece that secured the three points but this time it was a Theo Ola penalty after 70 minutes which secured the victory at a rainy Mayesbrook Park.

The Blues were dealt a blow pregame with news that goalkeeper Ollie Bowles was to be ruled out for a few weeks with a muscle injury. The injury gave an opportunity to new signing Emmanuel Olajide between the sticks. Barking came close to taking the lead after two minutes as a pressure led to a corner – it was cleared but only to Kiernan Hughes-Mason who saw his goal bound volley blocked. Olajide saw his first taste of action after 8 minutes but it was comfortable as right wing cross was headed straight at him. Barking forced their save out of Coulton in the Ware goal after 16 minutes as Theo Ola’s shot was too close to the goalkeeper with the rebound also saved. Barking should have taken the lead two minutes later a corner was headed back across goal by Ben O’Brien where it found Ola from three yards out but he struggled to get the ball from out of his feet on the sticky pitch and the danger was cleared. Ware nearly made the Blues pay after 21 minutes as a right wing cross found Junior Appiah at the far post but he headed the ball over the bar. The exchange of chances continued as Ola attempted to capitalise on a poor backpass and run through on goal after 27 minutes he saw his shot saved thanks to the feet of Coulton. There was final headed chance for Ware which went over the bar as the sides went into half-time locked at 0-0.

The chances were thin on the ground in a second half with driving rain and gusts of wind preventing both sides from mounting dangerous attacks consistently but Barking still managed to cause problems and forced Coulton into another save after 53 minutes as Seymour managed to slide Hughes-Mason through on goal before he was denied by a strong palm. Ola dragged a shot wide after 64 minutes but he made up for his previous misses after 70 minutes – a powerful sprint from his own half left Lee Flynn exposed and when Ola managed to get around him and into the box through on goal Flynn bought Ola down leaving the referee with no option but to point to the spot. Theo Ola dusted himself down to send Coulton the wrong way and find the bottom right corner of the net to give Barking the lead.

Barking managed to stifle Ware in the difficult conditions in the time remaining to keep another clean sheet and secure another vital three points.
