FULL REPORT TO FOLOW - Interim report

Justin Gardner’s men had been denied victory by a last-minute Heybridge Swifts goal at Scraley Road on Saturday, having seen their 12-match unbeaten run in the league ended at Bowers & Pitsea a week earliier.

And the Blues endured more frustration back on home turf after conceding a goal in each half.

Ricky Tarbard was making his 100th appearance for the club, but the hosts fell behind on 34 minutes when Pat Ahern found the net.

Gardner made a trio of changes either side of the hour mark in a bid to help Barking get back on level terms, but Martin Tuohy was booked on 77 minutes.

And Witham made sure of the points with their second goal soon after as Elliott Ronto beat Ollie Bowles.

Billy Jones was also shown a yellow card in the final minute of normal time as Barking dropped to eighth place, following Waltham Abbey’s win over Ware.

Blues are set to welcome leaders Hornchurch on Saturday, in their last match of 2017, before a January 2nd trip to Tilbury.
