FULL REPORT TO FOLLOW - Interim report

In-form Barking extended their unbeaten run in the league to six matches with a fine win over Cheshunt.

Blues travelled to Theobalds Lane on the back of a midweek home win over Ware and having announced the signing of Ryan Reed from Essex Senior League outfit Clapton, following his stunning winner at Barkingside on Friday night.

And they took the lead on the stroke of half-time when Kiernan Hughes-Mason timed his run well to meet an inswinging corner from the right and glance a header past Ambers keeper Montel Joseph.

The second half was only seven minutes old when Dan Gilchrist doubled Barking’s lead, receiving a pass inside the box from Hughes-Mason on the left wing and firing a low drive past the left hand of Joseph.

And two goals in the last two minutes of normal time allowed Blues to celebrate their biggest away win in the Isthmian League since 2002, when they won 4-0 at East Thurrock

Substitute Sam Shaban made it 3-0 in the 89th minute as he met a left-wing corner at the near post to head home.

And Justin Gardner’s men capped a fine day when Billy Jones seized on a loose ball in midfield and swapped passes with Ben O’Brien on the right side of the box, before Abs Seymour curled a left-footed shot inside the far post.

Victory lifted Barking up to eighth place in the table with a trip to Gardner’s former club Aveley up next on Monday (7.45pm).
