PRINCE WILLIAM GIVES BARKING THE ROYAL TREATMENT
Barking fell to their third successive league defeat as Hertford Town came from behind in the second half to take all three points and run out 2-1 winners.
We were not able to field the same starting eleven as Friday with Daniel Flemming (injured) and Joe Bruce (unavailable) missing - we were dealt a further blow when Nana Boakye-Yiadom who had been an influential figure in Friday’s FA Cup win failed a fitness test. Jack Hayes, Jed Chouman and Theo Fairweather-Johnson.
The first half was not a classic with Barking’s best chance was a shot from distance from Kojo Apenteng turned away by home keeper Nicholas Michael Hayes. We received a further blow on 29 minutes when an injured Emmanuel Ighorae was replaced by Junior Dadson making his debut.
There was another injury blow at half time as Ricky Tarbard felt he could not continue due to a knee injury and replaced by Billy Reynolds. Barking started the second half better and opened the scoring after 55 minutes as Hayes failed to keep hold of a cross from Dadson and Theo Fairweather-Johnson gratefully nodded the loose ball home.
The lead lasted just 14 minutes as Prince William Domafriyie evaded Reynolds and his cross was met by PIsaac Pedro who has lost his marker to nod the ball past Ware. Hertford continued to press and Ware made an excellent save but the home side got their reward with ten minutes remaining as Barking failed to deal with a long ball and Prince William Domafriyie nipped in and although Ware did well to smother an initial attempt it fell back to William who turned and shot into the net. Barking pushed forward without much reward and nearly found themselves even further behind but Ware made a sharp save at his near post from a low cross.
We have mirrored our start to last season with three defeats on the spin and we went on to register our first league win in our fourth game. On Saturday we visit Bedfont Sports for the first time and today they registered their first win of the season beating Chertsey by a single goal.
