FULL REPORT TO FOLLOW - Interim report

Barking had to settle for a point against manager Justin Gardner’s bogey team after a game of two penalties at Julius Martin Lane.

Blues travelled to Cambridgeshire on the back of a 5-1 Velocity Trophy loss at Premier Division leaders Billericay in midweek.

Gardner had made several changes to his side for that tie and Barking received plenty of praise after a margin of defeat that did not do them justice.

And the visitors took the lead on 18 minutes when Jay Knight converted from the spot for his third goal of the campaign.

It looked like it might be enough to earn Barking their second away victory of the season, but Soham were awarded a penalty of their own with only three minutes remaining and Callum Russell stepped up to beat Ollie Bowles from 12 yards to deny Barking an away win and earn his side a share of the spoils.

Blues are due to host a buoyant Haringey Borough side on Tuesday, after the north London club booked their place in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup with a 4-1 win over Bideford on Saturday.

Honours finished even when Barking visited Coles Park for their second league fixture of the season in mid-August and it ended in a 1-1 draw.
