A frustrating February as the weather continues to decimate the season. Couldn't even train with any regularity with training area resembling a paddy field and the main pitch a complete write off.
Did at least manage some sort of training on Thursday but it was in a dimly lit part of the main park and far from ideal. Can't complain too much though it is the nature of the beast and we just have to get on with things, terrific spirit and commitment shown despite the adversity and we'll certainly need more of that when normal service is finally resumed.
Sense a little window of opportunity to pick up some points if season recommences to schedule but definitely no easy games so won't be taking anything for granted. Bowers first up Wednesday night and they've been picking up of late and will want to keep their run going, never easy opponents and even more dangerous now
Have a point to prove. It's another trip up the A13 at the weekend as we take on Bowers near neighbours Basildon United, know them well from previous encounters this season so hopefully a whiff of revenge in the air this time, play a strong direct game so must be up for the physical battle in this one. Clapton the following Tuesday and they've already put one over on us once this season so will need to guard against any complacency whatsoever, a young ,fit side who try to play the right way but hopefully we've learnt the lessons from the first encounter.
Have lost Jared from the squad and that's a blow but I’m sure we all wish him well at a higher level, on the flip side Pyney, Sam Dennis and Matty Malton back in contention so hopefully that will spice up selection, squad size unlikely to get too much bigger so a chance for all to stake their claim as games will eventually come thick and fast.
