December 7th - BITTEN BY WITHAM

First anniversary of 'View' but a bit of a damp squib to mark the occasion. Most of the plaudits off the pitch as a small band of volunteers worked tirelessly to get the pitch ready, sadly the performance failed to live up to that commitment.

Wasn't through lack of trying but we didn't defend well in this one, failed to cope with the lateral movement of a lively Witham forward line and always looked vulnerable to the counter attack. Played some neat football at times but only up to the final third, have lacked a cutting edge all season and this game no exception, a 'fox in the box' top of the Boss's Xmas wish list but the're not that easy to find in the bargain basement.

Game kind of summed up our season, a win would have left us sitting reasonably pretty but was not to be, currently plagued by almost chronic inconsistency, unable to string successive results together and it's beginning to cost us dear. Some players whinging about the Ref on Saturday but I’m not buying into that, thought he did well and if anything decisions went for us on the day, players need to look at themselves individually and collectively, not make excuses, and start pulling out results. Chance to do just that this Saturday but Enfield away will be a tough challenge; have steadied themselves after a rocky start to the season so will need to be at our very best to get anything beyond a soggy cheese sandwich and a cup of cold tea from our hosts.
