A test of character this and in the end we passed with flying colours. Turned a horror show first half into a valuable point, once more came strong at the end and could have nicked all three points.
Overall would have been harsh on Manor, they outplayed us first half and could have been out of site at the break. in the end a terrific Mark Parker reaction save kept us within touching distance and maybe that was one of several turning points as the game developed.
We were described against Romford as 'defending like drunken monkeys on a bouncy castle', well today this woud have been an insult to monkeys so bad was our first half display. Our heads weren't on it from the start and that's both a worry and a backward step, lost our shape, composure and ultimately two goals as we were given a footballing lesson first up.
Plenty said at half time and credit to the lads for their response, maybe Manor got complacent but we certainly surprised them with the intensity of our fight-back, Jared and Sam outstanding second half so a masterstroke from the Boss after making tough decisions at the break.
More pressure higher up the pitch after the interval and this made all the difference, Manor's turn to look uncomfortable, didn't fancy Jared's pace and tenacity and it showed. Sam also made his prescence felt from the off, centre backs now a real scoring threat as recent stats will back up.
Not a red letter day by any means but an important point gained which lifts us another position. Fourth from top v fourth from bottom at start of play but pretty hard to split the teams over 90 minutes, pushover tag hopefully well and truly gone as the season has unfolded. So it's seven points from nine and a little run going, Bowers next up, lads looking to avoid a half time roasting from Benno at his old club - so they'd better get it right fom the start.
