Sweet win this for the Management after the criticism we received after the corresponding fixture earlier in this season. We're stung and hurt by this and used it as a motivating factor for this game. Learnt big lessons from that day ranging from take early chances, keep 11 men on the pitch and football can be a fickle game. Kept all our players on the pitch here and took early chances with aplomb so certainly put that right this time around, can't do much about the fickleness except put it in the memory bank and accept it as part and parcel of football at all levels.
What I would say is the crowd have been behind us all season and thoroughly deserved this performance as pay back, can't praise the lads enough from the first whistle to the last. Steve and myself had a simple long term plan since taking over - be hard to break down when we don't have the ball, get the ball down and play once we've got it, showed here that philosophy is embedding into shape particularly once adding Dicko's influence into the mix
Have added some ruthlessness in front of goal in recent weeks and the results have just kept on coming, Joe and Des on fire tonight and complimented each other very effectively.
Saw this as the complete performance we've been threatening to deliver all season, look at the timing of the goals and you'll see that we never really took the foot of the gas all evening and for me that was the feature. Trapped Clapton in their own half from the start and never really let them out. The Boss isn't quite as happy and didn't think we played as well as we can, shows the game is pretty subjective as well as his own demanding nature and that will drive the club forward even further next season.
Did the basics well here, kept a clean sheet and looked sharp in front goal, would have been hard for the game to go much more to script. Boosted our goal difference and it's now getting almost respectable.
Up to ninth now and getting greedy, can go to Tiptree with confidence and hopefully repeat the convincing display of a few weeks ago.
