‘DARR-SASTER'- RED CARD 'SHAM' NOT IN THE PLAN

Cracking game this ruined by the officials, too many big decisions wrong and a sending off that defied belief. Credit to Barkingside but no doubt the dismissal had a huge impact on the game, looked comfortable with eleven men and things going to plan up to the interval.

Felt sorry for Sham, first booking for handing ball to team mate, second for possibly his first rash challenge of the season let alone match. No common sense used in my book, a quiet word in the ear would have done and it cost us big time. Shouldn't have been surprised - same ref against Mauritius and he managed to cause bad feeling before the game had even kicked off, booed off at the end by the winning team and that says it all.

Must be said we did play some part in our own downfall, slow out of the traps second period and this allowed 'Side' to grasp the initiative, turned the screw after the sending off and to be fair took their chances well. Could also have added to Jared’s wonder strike early doors, and in the end that came back to haunt us, must be ruthless in killing off games if we want to climb higher so a big lesson to take on board.

In between the mayhem was pleased with how we approached things, some steel in the lads these days, battled back bravely once regrouped, Joe denied a clear run on goal by a debatable offside decision, whilst Jared clearly pushed in the back late on and nothing given. That's the inconsistency, petty decisions all afternoon ruining the flow but big decision not given when it really mattered, frustrating for both teams, win some-lose some with ref's - today it was the latter.

No time to feel sorry for ourselves gave this one everything and in the end came up short but that's football - it can kick you in the teeth sometimes. Nice to see our efforts appreciated by an ever growing band of supporters, very vocal on the day and I’m sure the Ref got the message.

Still looking to finish the season strongly, nine points on offer and we'll be looking to take as many as possible. Stansted next up and that will be a toughie, hard working side and another big challenge as we look to sign off our home season in style - would be nice to give supporters something to remember over the summer so hopefully firing on all cylinders.
