Not the perfect start that's for sure, three defeats on the bounce but no need to push the panic button quite yet. Defeats have all hurt, no one more than the Manager, but there have been some promising signs, all now need to dig in, stick together and I’m sure the results will come.
Not hard to analyse these two games, we looked OK going forward in both, defensively we gave away far too many sloppy goals so were always behind the 8 ball. The Manor game in particular, defensively we were a shambles, nonexistent marking at corners and a back three lacking in cohesion or a footballing brain between them on the night.
Worked hard in training Thursday, defending when overloaded, and to their credit there was more shape and pattern to our play against Tring. Scored a early goal but then got undone by a combination of our own slack play abetted by a large slice of incompetence from the officials. Finishing with nine men defies belief and I won't even go into the ref's reasoning for the dismissals or the second goal for that matter, wouldn't like to be tried by jury with Saturday’s ref and lino, would finish up with life for not paying poll tax..
Did at least show some fight despite the adversity, Reiss so close at the end and we probably did deserve at least a draw for our efforts. Was really pleased to see Dicko getting so involved Saturday, FA Cup means a lot to him and it clearly showed, gave a half time bollocking that Benno would have been proud of so well done to him - me and Steve couldn't get a word in ourselves but maybe that's just as well.
Onto Hullbridge next up and a almost a must win game at such an early stage of the season. Big squad at Barking this year and it's lucky there is, plenty of quality on the injury list, add that to the current mix and that potential is there for all to see, Exciting times ahead for Barking supporters who keep the faith so only looking forward from this point on.
