January 18th - In denial in squad squabble

A recent thaw in the arctic conditions gripping the country so hopefully a prospect of playing in the near future. Plenty of sides in the title reckoning and I’m sure the team quickest out of the blocks after the resumption will be in the mix - we need to ensure that team is us. Games coming thick and fast, win them and we'll quickly move into contention, our destiny really is in our own hands despite not being tipped in most forecasters top ten.

Three little words of advice to the lads written on the changing room walls :- Win, Win, Win, need to stay hard to beat, start finding the net more regularly and ensure no team wants to play us. No better time to put this theory into practice than a visit from clear title favourites Burnham on Tuesday night, a real six pointer as far as we're concerned as we're some way off them as things stand. A tall order that's an absolute cert, the Ramblers have an amazing defensive record away from home so hopefully we'll be firing on all cylinders. Should have taken plenty of confidence from the Takeley win and need to take this forward, as good as anyone on our day and now need to reproduce that form every time we cross the white line.

Some headlines off the pitch this week after a report we had signed a player from Ilford, the player contacted me personally saying he'd left his previous club and just wanted to play football, I invited him to watch the Takeley game and have had no contact of any sort with him since that conversation despite anything written in the press. Steve Dicko and I are more than happy with the size and quality of the current squad, looking to strengthen a squad is always an ongoing objective but we are not actively pursuing any players and have not needed to for a large part of the season. It's flattering to a degree that players are considering us as an alternative to teams on budgets or offering the lure of a higher league but the facts are that players are wanting to come here for whatever reason and that's a very positive sign.
