September 24th - Vase farce

Proud of the lads tonight, battled Basildon all the way despite ten men for the majority of the match. Clarkey again superb despite hobbling through the second half, in great form at the moment and may well have saved the goal if fully fit. Team played with their hearts and their brains tonight, we're beginning to gel and will hopefully only get better.

Game hinged on one big decision which didn't go our way but doesn't detract from our opponents, they’re a difficult side because so consistent and I don't begrudge them the win.

Was a little critical of their over the top celebration two weeks ago but they were a little muted tonight, think everyone in the ground, bar one, knew there was an injustice and to be fair home team and Management gracious in victory and that was appreciated.

Despite the setbacks matched Bas for most of the encounter, golden chance to take the spoils midway through the second half, three bites of the cherry and agony for our supporters behind the goal. Can't get round this subject but big decision cost us very dear, video evidence available so hopefully the right decision will be made in the long run. Abe a very honest boy, said other player accidently run into him, put his hands up instinctively to protect himself but unfortunately made contact with the other player- I’ve no reason to disbelieve him and I think his stunned reaction said a lot.

Basildon players to their credit even supportive of Abe and that was good to hear- hopefully common sense will prevail. Onto Bethnal Green Saturday and a chance to derail the 'Green Machine' they came to our place and gave a footballing lesson so would be nice to reverse that this week.
