January 27th - Clapton - final assessment

No complaints this week, a clean sheet and three points in the bag - all in all a good days work.

What's more we deserved this, we were quick out the blocks, bossed Clapton from the off and then closed the game out second half - couldn't have gone more to plan.

What pleased me and Steve most was the 'response' from the lads, we weren't happy Thursday night and let them know. But today they turned things round, their heads were on it and they did a job on their opponents from the off. They must have learnt something from Thursday night, their shape was good, the communication better and crucially they denied Clapton the space behind by playing a little deeper. We weren't spectacular second half but we were very solid and never looked like conceding - a big, big step forward.

So a "Well Done" to the team today but we mustn't rest on our laurels, we want a result Tuesday night against ninth placed Hullbridge and will need the same focus and desire once again. In short we need to be more consistent, the same intensity as today every time we cross the white line - only time will tell on that one!

Word of praise to two players Danny Hopkins once again outstanding in midfield and Scott Borthwick who proved a point today with a commanding display against a very difficult opponent - a deserved Man of the Match, in my book.

Here's hoping for more of the same Tuesday night and another three points.
