Pitch maintenance update - Sunday May 9th 2010

Barking Football Club has acted quickly to get the required remedial work on the pitch carried out in a bid to ensure the best possible playing surface for next season. Work began just days after the reserves brought the curtain down on the season with a thumping 5-0 victory over Champions Heybridge Swifts.

The pitch has been verti-drained to ease compaction, levelled, overseeded and received a generous covering of weed-killer and fertilizer.

At the same time a group of dedicated volunteers have worked very hard indeed on the training ground to remove the ridge that was left when the back fence was moved to increase the training area. The ridge was a problem area as it was impossible to train near it. It has been rotor-vated to smooth it down and this will increase the area of the training pitch that we can actually use.

We are extremely grateful to all those people that helped make these projects possible
