Lee Benson and Barking FC have parted company, Chairman Rob O’Brien confirmed the news yesterday stating:
“Lee is a good man but things haven’t worked out the way we planned. I’m sure he’ll be back in football soon and will draw on the lessons learnt here.“
Rob has brought in two managers to jointly oversee the team’s affairs. Both Jonny Fowell and Michael Walther (pictured above) are known to supporters for their connections to Clapton FC, in fact it was during Fowell’s spell in charge that Clapton were runners up to Barking in the Essex Senior League in 2016/17 and Michael Walther was in charge of Clapton for our 2015 Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy win.
We wish then both well in their new roles.
Hello,
By way of introduction I am Peter Barton an 88 years old pensioner who once
was a regular supporter of Barking Football Club during the 1940s.
My uncle, Jack Bannister, was the team manager during those years when my
father took me to watch the matches on a regular basis.
I look forward to seeing your new history presentation of the club.
Kind regards,
Peter Barton
